Ex-Packers returner Amari Rodgers vents about not getting Aaron Rodgers 'love' as rookie

Aaron Rodgers is doing everything these days to make the rookies on the New York Jets feel at home.

Like actually letting them stay in his home.

"He said I could stay in his guest house if I wanted to," third-round draft pick Malachi Corley said recently during the team's rookie minicamp. "Just trying to stay with him. Be a fly on the wall."

"Damn right I will," the Western Kentucky alum said.

That kind of red-carpet welcome caught the attention of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver and returner Amari Rodgers.

Amari Rodgers took to social media to vent and claimed Aaron Rodgers never gave him that kind of hospitality.

"Promise this helps him play better as a Rookie," Amari Rodgers wrote in a since-deleted tweet on X, formerly Twitter. "If only I had this type of love coming into GB, but to each his own."

Amari Rodgers' short career in Green Bay was forgettable. The Packers selected him in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft where they hoped he could be a next Randall Cobb type of player. That never came close to happening. He was cut after just 26 total games midway through the 2022 season.

He didn't catch on in the receiving game, finishing with just eight receptions for 85 yards and no touchdowns with the Packers.

It was also a disaster for him as a kickoff and punt returner.

Rodgers had two fumbles as a rookie on special teams and then it got worse his second season. He had five fumbles in 10 games before his release. The final straw came after he fumbled a punt in a home game against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 13 with the score tied at 14-14. His miscue led to a quick Cowboys touchdown four plays later.

Rodgers ended that season with the Houston Texans. He spent time in 2023 with the Indianapolis Colts − only appearing on the active roster for three games − before he was released in late October.

The 24-year-old is playing for the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League this spring. In six games, Rodgers has eight catches for 140 yards and one touchdown.
